Meet Maxine

Maxine McCarthy is one of the most well-known faces of the aesthetics industry in the UK. She trained in aesthetics in 2009 and after perfecting aesthetics treatments for three year, in 2012 Maxine opened Cosmetic Couture, which offers aesthetic courses to beauty therapists and health care professionals as well as undertaking thousands of expert treatments every year.

Cosmetic Couture is one of the most talked about and recognised names in the industry and has trained thousands of students who have carved out very successful careers in the cosmetic industry, an industry which is still one of the fastest-growing in Britain and is worth a staggering 30bn-a-year. Maxine is well-known from TV, newspaper articles and her videos on a range of topics. She was heavily involved as a stakeholder in the national debate about how to raise standards and regulation in the industry whilst always defending the rites of non-medics to practice and be properly trained and regulated.

Maxine firmly believes that we should raise the standards in training and treatments. There should be accountability; safe products should be used and full clinical oversight should be mandatory for non-prescribing practitioners and medics should adverse effects or complication arise.

Maxine is a co-founder of The Association of Cosmetic Practitioners of Britain (ACPB). The ACPB was in July 2019 approved as charity by the Charities Commission.

The ACPB welcome professionals from both medical and non-medical backgrounds, with a code of conduct which helps inspire public safety and maintain professional industry standards through accreditation and insurance assurances.

All members are required to adhere to the strict protocol and procedures, ensuring that the ACPB standards are met ensuring safety of the public.
